Our Best Answer - How do I apply for financial aid?

Applying for Financial Aid

The first step to apply for financial aid is completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.FAFSA.gov. Once this step is completed, and Triton’s school code (001773) has been added to the FAFSA, you will be contacted via email. If you need help completing the FAFSA you may come to the Financial Aid Office where a staff member will be able to assist you.

The email that you receive from the Triton College Financial Aid Office will either state that your Award Letter is ready to be viewed in your MyTriton Portal, or that you were selected for verification and further documentation is needed. Verification is intended to improve the accuracy of the information submitted on the FAFSA.  Roughly one third of students are selected for verification. The verification documents that you need to complete will be attached to the email, but can also be found on the Financial Aid Website, as well as the MyTriton Portal.

Once all verification documents have been submitted and your file is reviewed by your advisor for accuracy, you will receive an email guiding you to the MyTriton Portal where your Award Letter will be posted. If you do not receive an email, please check with the Financial Aid Office to make sure we have the correct email address on file.

It is also important that you have an Official High School/High School Equivalency Transcript on file in order for aid to be disbursed.

You should contact your high school (or where you earned your High School Eqivalency) and request a final, official copy of your transcript be sent to the Triton College Admission and Records Office.

The Records Office is located at:

Student Center Building

Room B-220

(708) 456-0300, Ext. 3720
